BRIEF SUMMARY: Shokuzai is adapted from the third novel by Minato
Kanae who became popular with Kokuhaku (Confessions) which in 2010 was made into
a movie starring Matsu Takako. In Shokuzai, the venom and darkness hidden in
every person is depicted through the perspectives of five women who are linked
by a tragedy from the past. 15 years ago, Adachi Emily, an elementary school
student in a rural town, was abducted by a man and later found murdered. Her
four friends Kikuchi Sae, Shinohara Maki, Takano Akiko and Ogawa Yuka, who had
been playing with her just before the incident happened, were the first to
discover her. However, the case went unsolved because they could not really
recall the murderer’s face. Emily’s mother, Asako, had offered harsh words to
them at that time, ordering them to find the murderer or she would make them
atone in ways acceptable to her. The four girls grew up under that “curse”. 15
years later, each of them present their “compensation” to Asako, but -

贖罪改編自因小說＂告白＂而走紅的作家湊 佳苗的同名小說。15年前，少女慘死在校園，少女的母親對少女的四位朋友說：請找出犯人，否則就要你們贖罪。四位少女抱著如同咒語的這如影隨形的話成長，到底他們會怎麼贖罪？
