BRIEF SUMMARY:
The seed of crime which was planted in the depths of the mountains of the
Southern Alps, suddenly germinates 20 years later and comes into bloom as a
murder in distant Tokyo. Assistant Inspector Goda Yuichiro (Kamikawa Takaya),
who is in charge of the case, is baffled that he cannot investigate as he wishes
because of pressure from the top brass, and starts to sense a huge, encroaching
darkness behind the case. A second murder occurs despite the frustration of the
detectives, and before long, the case spills over to the prosecutor’s office.
Can Goda and his men stop the crimes of this psychopath killer called Marks ?

男主角是外形帥氣的演技派明星上川隆也。本劇主要講述在東京目黑區發生了暴力團夥成員被殺害事件，數天后法務省的刑事課課長也離奇被殺。在警方的調查陷入僵局之時，一個自稱為“MARKS”的謎樣神秘人物出現了。由上川隆也飾演的警視廳搜查一課的警部補合田雄一郎，在錯綜複雜的連續殺人事件中大膽追查真相，尋找真凶。
平靜的住宅區街上發生前黑道成員
畠山的殺人案件。負責此案的搜查一課七系合田雄一警官(上川隆也)，追查畠山生前的行跡卻掌握不到線索。一段時間過後,
發生了法務部官員松井(矢島健一)被殺害事件，因傷口和畠山事件非常類似，讓此事件往連續殺人案件發展。
但是警方上層下達了不可「共同搜查」這個另人費解的命令。合田向大學時的同學也是前妻哥哥的東京地檢檢查官
加納(石黑賢)要求說明理由，但卻遭到他以「服從上級命令」為由拒絕，讓合田的搜查陷入困境。
另一方面，從醫療監獄出獄的謎樣青年 水澤(高良健吾)，寄住於護士女友真知子(戶田菜穗)家中，卻時常感覺到「黑暗之山」這句話背後有某種秘密的含義。
「週刊潮流」的記者根來(小西真奈美)，原本要採訪建設公司社長佐伯(佐野史郎)的收賄嫌疑，編集長瀧澤(相島一之)卻命令她去追查畠山殺人案件。然後，遇到瓶頸的搜查中浮現的相關者中，也包含畠山前科事件中擔任律師的林原(小日向文世)。
巧妙佈局的 「組織壓力」。賭上自尊心持續追查 「看不見的敵人」的刑警們。馬克斯」究竟是何物?
