Hayato is a sixth grader living in the beautiful city of Kagoshima. His
righteous attitude makes him a team leader and very popular among fellow
classmates. Every year the elementary school holds a swimming contest, it's a
tradition and honor to participate in such event. For unknown reason,
Hayato has faked being ill every year just before the festival so he can get out
of the tradition. This year being his last year in the elementary school and
being encouraged by his teacher. Will he able to overcome whatever has been
bothering him all these years and join his fellow classmates?

吉川隼人（高橋賢人飾演）是個小學六年級的男孩，因為極具正義感，又有不服輸的性格所以在班上很有號召力。他從小就成長在鹿兒島的傳統教育之中，也一直堅守著鹿兒島的精神
“不認輸！不說謊！不欺負弱小！”不過吉川隼人在一件事情上還是會說謊，那就是每年夏天舉行的“橫渡錦江灣長距離游泳大賽”，他都會假裝生病而不參加。然而在這個小學生涯即將結束的最後一個學年裡，在美麗溫柔的老師白石奈津子（松下奈緒飾演）的堅持下，吉川隼人被迫參加了比賽。於是他和一個神秘的轉校生以及一位有過敏性腸炎的同學開始了賽前集訓。然而意外卻在訓練的中途發生，究竟這群孩子能否順利參加游泳大賽呢？
