BRIEF SUMMARY:  Sumida Eichiro (Kunimura Jun), is the fifth generation owner of the Japanese lantern shop, Sumidaya. He lives together with his wife, Teruyo (Nishina Akiko), eldest son, Shoichiro (Ito Atsushi) and eldest daughter, Chiharu (Nagasawa Masami), under the same roof. And Eichiro’s mother, Kouko, leads a leisurely life in an apartment nearby. Eichiro, who takes pride in his craftsmanship, dotes on his daughter who is the apple of his eye. However, Chiharu, who is tomboyish and fearlessly outspoken, quarrels with her old-fashioned father everyday.
