BRIEF SUMMARY:
Akiba Bunsaku (Watabe Atsuro), an employee of
Nishijima Electric, works at a factory in the suburbs and leads life a long way
from career advancement. One day in the new year, Akiba attends the company’s
general meeting and meets the chairman, Nishijima Takuhei (Nakamura Atsuo).
Nishijima is the only chairman and rules the entire group. Akiba notices the
beautiful woman at his side … … She is the head of the corporate secretariat and
also Nishijima’s mistress, Nozeki Rie (Hasegawa Kyoko). Their gazes meet.
Akiba and Rie had
once been a couple. And now they are reunited after 11 years. Akiba has a wife,
but after meeting Rie again, their relationship is rekindled. On one hand, he is
attracted to Rie who has become more beautiful over time. And on the other, the
desire to succeed which he had kept suppressed until now wells up. Akiba thinks

秋場文作（渡部篤郎飾）是西島電機的一名普通員工，在郊外工作的他，幾乎沒有什麼出人頭地的機會。新年的某一天，他參加了“西島電機HD新春全體員工會議”，遇到了公司職位最高的西島會長（中村敦夫飾）。西島會長一個人獨攬著公司的所有實權。秋場發現在西島會長身邊有一位美麗的女性…既是秘書室長也是會長情婦的野關利江（長谷川京子飾），兩人視線相交…秋場和利江曾是戀人。這是他們時隔11年的重逢。雖然秋場有妻子有孩子，但是和利江的重逢使兩個人一下子舊情復燃。一方面，他被利江隨著時間所增長的成熟之美所吸引，另一方面，一直壓抑著的出人頭地的欲望湧上了他的心頭。他想“如果利用利江的話，說不定可以接近會長”…。而利江也相信著秋場應該更有出息。
利用從利江那裡得到的消息，秋場逐漸得到了會長的信任。看著這樣的秋場，利江也很高興。利江越來越想獨占秋場的愛…。當利江對秋場說“我懷孕了，我想和你在一起”的時候，被出人頭地的欲望衝昏了頭腦的秋場萌生了殺意。
其實在和秋場重逢之前，利江是有男朋友的。他是飲料公司的服務人員沼田仁一（溝端淳平飾）。一邊和西島會長交往，一邊和年輕的沼田交往的利江在和秋場重逢之後，開始和沼田保持距離。有一天，利江突然失蹤了。數月之後，在京都市郊外的山裡發現了利江已經化為白骨的屍體。當搜查進展困難的時候，有一個男人想要靠自己的力量找出凶手。那個人就是沼田。憑借著一條線索，他步步逼近殺害利江的凶手…。
