Story: Adapted from Mitsuru Adachi's popular comic series focusing on a stepfather-stepdaughter relationship. The stepfather is played by Masakazu Tamura and his stepdaughter by Takako Matsu. The daughter's real mother died 17 years ago, and when the girl turns 20 her stepfather tells her the truth about his not being her real father. As a result, she decides to leave home. The series also features Tsuyoshi Kusanagi of SMAP and Reiko Takashima as Prof. Tamura's assistants. How will the daughter hand the truth? Will their parents child relationship change?

劇   情﹕陣平（田村正和飾演）是從事海洋生物研究的大學教授，與女兒美久（松隆子飾演）相依為命。為了慶祝美久20歲生日，兩人相約共進晚餐，美久並穿著母親的洋裝赴約。

用餐前，陣平對美久說出隱藏多年的秘密：原來美久是妻子理加子與前夫生的孩子，兩人並無血緣關係。陣平曾答應理加子當美久滿20歲時，把事實真相告訴美久，美久聞言震驚。

寺西（草剪剛飾演）是京都大學博士班學生，一心想追隨陣平從事鯨魚研究而找上門。陣平陰錯陽差跑去紐西蘭看抹香鯨，而寺西則應美久的邀約，留下來過夜。陣平責怪美久留寺西過夜，而美久則在意自己不是親生女兒的事實，並憤而決定離家出走…
